We to the washing of clothes and the baking of bread and such like for the week's eating. John in later to put on dry small clothes, he sitting in a mud puddle with his back seat and verrie wroth thereby, and later he to market with some old ewes which be no more use. Later his Mother do make a violet pudding for when he do cum back from market.

Anne Hughes 'The Diary of a Farmer's Wife 1796 - 1797'

The impression I hoped to create, was one of looking over the fields of a farm. The colours are different crops, hedges and the sky in the distance. Looking closer the colours also echo the meaning of the words, eg; "washing" in blue, "mud" in brown. The paper is torn to give a feeling of distance - fields stretching out to the horizon.
