Calligraphy Workshop Overview
Calligraphy is growing in popularity by the day! We all love the sense of peace that working with our hands gives us. Add to that the stunning results you achieve with Kirsten Burke's friendly, clear and creative tuition, it is no wonder her workshops sell out so quickly! Kirsten (Kirri) spends lots of 'one on one' time with everyone, as well as inspiring and enlightening the group with her calligraphic demonstrations, tips and expert knowledge. Having worked as a professional calligrapher for 20 years, she loves passing on everything she knows so that her students go away ready to embark on their own calligraphic journey. So many people who attend a workshop come back again, and Kirsten is working on new workshops all the time. This year she introduced an introduction to brush calligraphy & an intermediate pen calligraphy workshop.

Brush or Pen Calligraphy?
If you aren't sure of the difference between modern dip pen and brush pen calligraphy, and so not sure which workshop to choose, then here is a summary. Dip pen calligraphy is done with a pointed nib, it is perfect for creating fine, delicate work.
Brush pen is much quicker to pick up, and is better if you like free, larger sized hand lettering. It can be more expressive and it gives a more casual style.
I had a really great evening at the workshop last night. The hospitality was lovely and I learnt such a lot about calligraphy and had time to have a go with brushes & ink. I would recommend this to anyone.

Demonstrations & guided exercises
Throughout the workshops, Kirsten demonstrates to the group, making sure everyone understands how to create beautiful lettering. The class is structured, with exercises to help you gradually gain pen or brush control. It will finish with you designing your own piece of calligraphy, to take away and impress your friends.
Left Handed or complete beginner?
There is no need to worry about whether you will be able to do calligraphy. Even left-handers who have never tried it before come away from the workshops amazed at what they achieved. So there are no excuses!!
